What Each Console Is Worth, By Condition#
The headline figures above are pristine — genuinely mint, boxed, no marks, working perfectly. Most consoles that have lived in a real home are a grade or two below that, and that is completely normal.
Here is how the grades work in practice. We apply a multiplier to the pristine price based on condition, so the same model can be worth quite different amounts:

- Pristine — like new. No scratches, fully working, ideally boxed.
- Good — light, honest wear. Works perfectly, a few small marks. Around 85% of pristine.
- Fair — visible scuffs, yellowing panels, or a tired controller, but still fully functional. Around 70%.
- Poor — cracked, faulty, or damaged but still powering on. Roughly a quarter of pristine, varying by fault.

Handheld Gaming PCs Count as Consoles Too#

What Changes Your Console's Value#
Beyond the model itself, a handful of factors move the final number up or down.
Condition, first and foremost. As the grade table above shows, the gap between pristine and poor can be more than £200 on a premium machine. Scratches, yellowed white panels, and a tired controller all pull you down a grade.
Storage and edition. A digital-only console is worth less than the disc equivalent, and on handhelds a larger SSD is worth a real premium. Always quote the exact variant you own rather than the family name.
Accessories and the box. The original box, cables, stand and a working controller add a modest amount and make the whole package more attractive. If you still have the box, include it — it also protects a heavy console in transit. If not, do not worry, it is a nice-to-have rather than a requirement.
Controller health. Stick drift is extremely common and knocks a controller's value down sharply, but it does not affect the console itself. If you have a spare pristine controller, it is worth quoting separately.
Faults, disclosed honestly. A disc-drive fault, overheating, or an HDMI problem moves you to a poor grade rather than disqualifying you. What causes problems is a hidden fault discovered at inspection — that is what triggers a revised offer.

Consoles lose value steadily — a few pounds a month — as the second-hand market fills up with used units. That is the slow bleed. Common Mistakes When Selling a Console#
Guessing the value instead of quoting it. The gap between models and conditions is huge — from under £100 to over £500. A 30-second quote replaces the guesswork with a real, locked number.
Quoting the wrong variant. "PS5" and "Xbox Series X" are families, not products. Digital versus disc, and 256GB versus 1TB on a handheld, change the price meaningfully. Quote exactly what you own.
